Donating Children’s Movies

The spiritual growth project has begun.

January 1. My first three items to give away were three DVDs, suitable for kids. I knew our local children’s hospital accepted donations of toys and activities for the patients, but the donation guidelines request newer releases. My DVDs were not recent.

So I searched online and found an organization called Kid Flicks. They collect assorted children’s movies and send them out in libraries of 100 to children’s hospitals around the United States. They’ve also sent DVD collections to South Africa.

January 3. I mailed the box for the surprising (to me) fee of $8 plus change. The movies themselves probably aren’t worth that much. Next time, I may look harder for a local recipient. But what’s done is done.

Lord, help my hands release their grip on stuff and cling to You instead. You have been generous with me. Help me truly be generous with others. Believing You will provide and being generous with others requires far more than giving away a few things. I know this, Lord. But this is a starting point. Help me.

  1. Rachelle,

What you are doing is really good.

You are giving more than three DVDs (and $8.00 shipping); you are giving inspiration. The DVDs (and shipping) are like the widow’s mites; they reflect an inner giving of all with the symbolic outer giving.

    Thanks,

    Sam
